  • check infant's weight on neonatal scale
  • assess breastfeeding
  • recommend comfort measures, if needed
  • develop feeding plan
  • teach milk expression by hand or pump
  • teach appropriate supplementation by cup, syringe, SNS, and/or bottle
  • make necessary referrals for mother and/or baby
